TL;DR — Gopuff Driver Pay in 2026

Gopuff drivers average $13.08 per hour in 2026, based on data from over 1 million gig workers tracked by Solo (worksolo.com), the first AI assistant for gig drivers. That's below DoorDash ($15.15/hr) and Uber Eats ($14.25/hr), but Gopuff posted the biggest month-over-month gain of any delivery app Solo tracks: up 3.3% from July to August.

Per order, Gopuff pays a median of $5.91: $2.50 in base pay plus $3.41 in tips, so tips make up more than half of what you earn. After estimated vehicle costs, Gopuff nets about $11.13/hr, within a dollar of Uber Eats ($11.98/hr), thanks to short delivery zones and a single pickup point.

The highest-paying Gopuff metro is New York at $15.40/hr, followed by Phoenix ($12.36) and Philadelphia ($12.19).

Gopuff is a delivery app that works differently from most. Drivers don't pick up from restaurants or shop grocery aisles. They collect orders that Gopuff staff have already packed at a local Gopuff facility, then deliver snacks, drinks, household essentials, and over-the-counter medicine to nearby customers. In some markets they also deliver alcohol. The workflow is simpler than most delivery gigs, but does it pay?

Solo (worksolo.com), the first AI assistant for gig drivers, tracks real earnings data from over 1 million gig workers across every major platform, including Gopuff. Using that data, we can show you how Gopuff driver pay stacks up in 2026: hourly rates, per-delivery pay, top-paying cities, how it compares to DoorDash and Uber Eats, and what you keep after expenses.

How Driving for Gopuff Works

A customer places an order in the Gopuff app. Gopuff staff pick and pack it inside a local Gopuff facility. A driver collects the bagged order from that facility and delivers it within a small surrounding zone. Every order starts from the same pickup point, so drivers don't wait at restaurant counters or drive across town between pickups.

There are two ways to work. You can schedule delivery blocks in advance or log on and deliver on demand. Scheduling blocks matters for pay, because in many markets scheduled drivers earn Wait Pay for time spent waiting on orders (more on that below).

To drive for Gopuff, you need:

  • To be 21 or older
  • A valid U.S. driver's license
  • A reliable vehicle with insurance and registration in your name
  • A smartphone that runs the Gopuff Driver app
  • To complete alcohol delivery training, if your area requires it

Gopuff drivers work as independent contractors, so you set your own schedule and cover your own vehicle costs and taxes.

How Much Gopuff Drivers Make vs. Other Delivery Apps

What you earn on Gopuff depends on your market, whether you schedule blocks, and how busy your facility is. The figures below come from Solo's tracking data across 2026, covering drivers who logged at least 10 hours of engaged (on-trip) time.

Gopuff drivers average $13.08 per hour, the lowest gross rate among the major delivery apps Solo tracks. That's about $2 an hour below DoorDash and roughly $1.17 below Uber Eats.

The trend is moving in Gopuff's favor. Gopuff pay rose 3.3% from July to August 2026, the biggest month-over-month gain of any delivery platform in Solo's data. Grubhub and Instacart both declined over the same period.

The "Est. Net/Hr" column narrows the gap further. After estimated vehicle costs, Gopuff drivers net about $11.13 per hour. That's nearly even with Instacart ($11.29) and within a dollar of Uber Eats ($11.98). It's also well ahead of Grubhub ($8.59) and Shipt ($6.81), whose higher gross pay is eaten up by longer drives.‍

Source: Solo Analytics, Jan–Sep 2026 YTD (data pulled October 3, 2026). Base pay and tip are medians per order; Tip % is the median tip share per order. Per-order figures split batched offers across contained orders. Amazon Flex excluded (paid per block, not per delivery).

Gopuff pays an average of $5.91 per delivery: $2.50 in base pay and $3.41 in tips. That's the smallest per-order payout in the table. Gopuff's $2.50 base pay is a dollar below DoorDash's $3.50.

Tips do the heavy lifting on Gopuff. They make up 54.9% of per-order pay, a higher share than DoorDash (49.5%) or Uber Eats (52.4%). Gopuff orders are mostly small convenience baskets, so a customer who skips the tip has a bigger impact on what you earn.

The low per-order figure is partly offset by speed. Pickups happen inside a single facility and delivery zones are small, so Gopuff drivers can complete orders quickly. That's how a $5.91 order still adds up to $13.08 per engaged hour.

On gross pay, DoorDash and Uber Eats both beat Gopuff. DoorDash leads by $2.07 an hour and Uber Eats by $1.17.

Vehicle costs change the picture. Gopuff drivers spend an estimated $1.95 per engaged hour on their vehicle. That's less than Uber Eats ($2.26) and only slightly more than DoorDash ($1.59). As a result, Gopuff's net gap to Uber Eats shrinks to about 85 cents an hour.

The biggest practical difference is the workflow. On DoorDash and Uber Eats, you pick up from many different restaurants and stores. On Gopuff, every order starts at the same facility. Some drivers prefer that predictability even though the hourly rate is lower.

Highest-Paying Gopuff Cities

Rank Metro Avg. Hourly
1New York$15.40
2Phoenix$12.36
3Philadelphia$12.19

Source: Solo Analytics, Jan–Sep 2026 YTD (data pulled October 3, 2026). Only metros with enough Gopuff drivers to report reliably are shown. Metro reflects where the driver lives.

New York leads at $15.40 per hour, more than $2 above Gopuff's national average. That puts New York Gopuff drivers ahead of the national averages for both DoorDash and Uber Eats. This is notable because New York ranks near the bottom for DoorDash pay among major metros. Dense neighborhoods and very short delivery distances suit Gopuff's facility-based model well.

Phoenix ($12.36) and Philadelphia ($12.19), Gopuff's hometown market, come in slightly below the national figure.

How Gopuff Pay Works

Knowing how Gopuff builds each paycheck helps you decide when to schedule and whether to run a second app.

Upfront Pay Per Order

Gopuff pays an upfront amount for every order you accept, and you still get paid if the customer cancels. Solo's data puts the median base pay at $2.50 per order.

Tips

Gopuff drivers keep 100% of their tips. Tips average $3.41 per order and make up more than half of what Gopuff drivers earn per delivery.

Wait Pay for Scheduled Blocks

When you schedule delivery blocks in advance, Gopuff pays Wait Pay for time spent waiting on orders in many markets. This feature is unusual among delivery apps, and it's the main reason to schedule blocks rather than only delivering on demand. Availability and rates vary by market, so check the Gopuff Driver app for your facility.

Incentives and Promotions

Gopuff runs incentives and promotions that raise per-order pay during busy windows or reward hitting delivery targets. Offers change by facility and week and appear in the Gopuff Driver app.

Multi-Apping with Gopuff

Many Gopuff drivers also run DoorDash, Uber Eats, or a rideshare app outside their scheduled Gopuff blocks to fill slow hours. The trick is knowing which combination pays best in your market. Solo tracks your earnings across every app in one place, and Sherpa, Solo's AI assistant, helps you see which apps and hours earn you the most.

Gopuff Expenses and Tax Deductions

Your gross hourly rate is not your take-home pay. As an independent contractor, you cover your own vehicle costs, phone, and taxes.

Vehicle costs are the biggest expense. Solo's data estimates that Gopuff drivers spend about $1.95 per engaged hour on vehicle costs. That's lower than Uber Eats, Instacart, Grubhub, and Shipt, because Gopuff's small delivery zones keep mileage down.

The IRS mileage deduction is the simplest way to offset vehicle costs at tax time. For 2026, the standard mileage rate is 72.5 cents per mile for January through June and 76 cents per mile for July through December (per IRS Announcement 2026-11). You need a record of every delivery mile to claim it. Solo's Mileage Tracker logs your miles automatically in the background.

Taxes: Gopuff does not withhold income or self-employment taxes from your pay. All of your Gopuff earnings are taxable income, and you're responsible for quarterly estimated tax payments. Solo's Tax Hub estimates what you owe as you earn, so there are no surprises at filing time.

Track Your Gopuff Earnings in WorkSolo

Gopuff offers a simpler kind of delivery work: one pickup point, short trips, and Wait Pay when you schedule ahead. Its hourly rate trails DoorDash and Uber Eats, but low vehicle costs and a rising trend make it worth a look, especially in dense markets like New York.

The only way to know what Gopuff really pays you is to track it. Solo tracks your earnings, mileage, and taxes across Gopuff and every other gig app automatically. You'll see your true hourly rate, find your best hours to drive, and never miss a tax deduction.
