Search "how much do Spark drivers make per delivery" and you get three kinds of answers: Walmart's own recruiting copy (no numbers), aggregated job-board estimates (self-reported, unverifiable), and forum threads (one driver, one market, one week).

Spark is the largest gig platform with the least published earnings data. Walmart doesn't release driver pay figures, and because Spark drivers skew toward running it as a primary app rather than alongside food delivery, they're underrepresented in the datasets that do get published.

How we measured it

All figures come from Solo's own platform data for January–June 2026, covering Spark drivers who logged at least 10 hours of activity in that time. Cancelled orders aren't counted. "Per delivery" means everything you're paid for an offer — base pay, tip, and any bonus — split across however many stops were on it, so a 3-stop batch counts as 3 deliveries.

These are averages, calculated so a handful of unusually big or small offers don't throw off the picture. Hourly figures are worked out per driver: total earnings divided by total hours actually spent working, not just logged in.

Spark base pay: what Walmart pays before tips

Spark's base pay is calculated per offer from trip distance, estimated effort (item count, whether you're shopping or just delivering), and current demand. Unlike a food-delivery platform where base pay is close to a flat floor, Spark's base varies widely by offer type — which is why the per-delivery range is so much wider than DoorDash's.

Base pay alone isn't enough to live on. At $11 average base pay and roughly 1.4 deliveries per hour, base-only earnings come out to around $15/hour before gas and other costs — tips make up the rest. And tips are the least predictable part of the job.

The table below shows how much each time window pays compared to a typical Spark hour. We checked this against the full group of Spark drivers, so it's solid. The spread across the day is smaller than you might expect — mornings edge out evenings, but there's no dramatic peak or trough.

Sunday looks like the best day in this data, running about 6% above average, with Tuesday the weakest at 7% below. The hourly pattern is on firmer ground: early morning (7–10am) is confirmed as the best window at $23.46/hr, and evening (7–9pm) the weakest at $22.08/hr. Either way, the differences are small — Spark doesn't have the dramatic peaks and dead zones some other platforms do.

The real cost of the miles: what's left after gas and car costs

Spark deliveries mean driving to and from the store, plus getting back on the road for the next one — and grocery stores tend to be spread out, so that's more driving than a typical restaurant order. That $3.17 doesn't mean cash actually leaves your pocket that hour — it's what's left once you subtract the full IRS mileage rate, which covers wear and tear and insurance, not just gas.
